Pheasant Energy is seeking an Acquisition Specialist to support the firm's deal sourcing, evaluation, and execution activities across active U.S. basins. The successful candidate will play a central role in identifying acquisition opportunities, conducting market and basin-level research, performing valuation and economic analyses, and managing transactions from initial outreach through closing. This is an on-site contract position based in Fort Worth, Texas, reporting to the firm's acquisitions leadership and collaborating closely with land, engineering, finance, and executive teams.

Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify, source, and qualify mineral, royalty, and non-operated working interest acquisition opportunities through direct outreach, broker networks, data analytics, and industry relationships.
  • Conduct market research, basin-level analysis, and competitive intelligence to inform acquisition strategy and pricing.
  • Perform valuation work, including type curve generation, reserve and economic modeling, and Net Royalty Acre (NRA) analysis to support bid decisions
  • Lead and coordinate due diligence workstreams across title, engineering, financial, and operational disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain a structured deal pipeline, ensuring disciplined tracking, follow-up, and reporting of opportunities from origination through close.
  • Prepare acquisition documentation, investment memoranda, and supporting transaction materials for executive review
  • Engage and negotiate with mineral owners, brokers, sellers, and counterparties in a professional and relationship-driven manner
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure acquisitions align with the firm's strategic, financial, and return objectives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, or a related discipline
  • Three to seven years of relevant experience in upstream acquisitions, A&D, land, business development, or energy investment banking
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and underwriting oil and gas assets, with familiarity in mineral, royalty, or non-operated working interest transactions
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and valuation skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of reserve forecasting and economic evaluation tools such as PHDwin, ARIES, or comparable platforms
  • Proficiency with industry databases, including Enverus, DrillingInfo, and S&P Capital IQ
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with mineral owners, brokers, and senior leadership
  • Strong organizational and program management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent transactions in a deadline-driven environment
  • Located within commutable distance of Fort Worth, Texas


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct transaction experience in mineral, royalty, or non-operated working interest acquisitions
  • Familiarity with title review, chain of title analysis, and NRA calculations
  • Established network of industry contacts, including brokers, mineral owners, and operators
  • Experience in one or more major U.S. basins (Permian, Midland, Delaware, Eagle Ford, Bakken, Haynesville, or Appalachia)
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS Finance) or professional designation (CFA, CPL, RPL)

Salary

$200 - $400 per day
