A&D Landman (Acquisitions & Divestitures)

About Pheasant Energy

Founded in 2014, Pheasant Energy is a privately held energy company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. The company acquires mineral, royalty, and non-operated working interests across the major producing basins of the United States, pairing proprietary technology and disciplined underwriting with long-standing industry relationships to source and close transactions with speed and precision. Pheasant invests for its own account across both conventional and unconventional plays, with the capital to fund the opportunities it pursues. The same analytical rigor and entrepreneurial, fast-moving culture that have driven its growth since 2014 are what the company looks for in the people who join the team.

Description

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced A&D landman to source, negotiate, and help close oil and gas mineral, royalty, overriding royalty, and working-interest transactions, and to support sell-side divestitures. This is a deal-driven role for someone who knows how to generate their own opportunities, work with owners and counterparties, and carry a transaction from first contact through close. You’ll own your pipeline and approach while working on-site in Fort Worth alongside our acquisitions and land team, with the tools and support to close efficiently. This isn’t a script-and-dial phone room. It’s a seat for a dealmaker who wants to own outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Identify and source mineral, royalty, overriding royalty, and working-interest acquisition opportunities across target basins
  • Build and manage your own pipeline, from lead generation through negotiation and closing
  • Negotiate offers directly with mineral owners, sellers, and counterparties
  • Support divestiture efforts, marketing, and selling interests to third parties at the company’s direction
  • Source new leads and counterparties for both acquisition and divestiture activity
  • Coordinate transactions with company-approved third parties and provide regular deal-status updates
  • Provide support to the land and business development functions as needed

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum/Energy Land Management, Business, Finance, Geology, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 3+ years of oil and gas land or A&D experience, with direct involvement in sourcing, negotiating, and closing mineral, royalty, overriding-royalty, and/or non-operated working-interest transactions
  • Demonstrated track record of closing deals, with a proven ability to take a transaction from first contact through close
  • Solid landman fundamentals: ownership and title analysis, runsheets, and the ability to evaluate and value interests
  • Familiarity with purchase-and-sale documentation and standard A&D workflow
  • Proficiency with industry tools such as Enverus; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM is a plus
  • AAPL designation (RL, RPL, or CPL) a plus
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the confidence to deal directly with sophisticated mineral owners and counterparties

How we set you up to execute

  • Company-provided tools and data, including Enverus and Salesforce, to source, evaluate, and track deals
  • An in-house support team behind every transaction, including title, closing, and land support
  • Fast pricing decisions and direct access to leadership on live deals
  • The capital to close as a principal buyer, not a broker waiting on someone else’s money

What we offer

  • A clear path from contract to employment: we hire from within, and team members who convert to full-time receive our full employee benefits
  • Competitive, performance-based commission on closed transactions, paid promptly after closing under a defined, transparent schedule
  • A growing book of business with a credible, repeat buyer active across the major U.S. basins
