Program Overview The Block by Block initiative is a door-to-door community outreach program focused on overdose prevention, Naloxone distribution, and brief community education. Outreach Specialists engage directly with residents across selected neighborhoods to offer free Narcan, share harm reduction resources, and conduct short voluntary surveys to better understand community needs.
Position Summary The Community Outreach Specialist will serve as a trusted, visible presence in the community — knocking on doors, building relationships, and connecting residents with life-saving resources. This role is rooted in harm reduction principles and a genuine commitment to meeting people where they are. As an independent contractor, this individual will manage their own schedule within agreed-upon outreach windows and deliverables.
Scope of Work
● Conduct scheduled door-to-door outreach in designated neighborhoods
● Distribute free Narcan and overdose prevention education materials
● Share harm reduction and community safety resources
● Administer brief, voluntary community needs surveys
● Represent Perfectly Flawed Foundation professionally and with compassion
● Submit accurate outreach logs and data after each session
● Communicate with program coordinator regarding scheduling and municipality protocols
● Follow all program guidelines when engaging with municipalities and community members
Qualifications
● Lived or living experience with substance use strongly preferred
● Comfortable engaging with diverse communities in a door-to-door setting
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
● Commitment to harm reduction, non-judgment, and community-centered values
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and participant dignity at all times
● Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
Contractor Terms
● Minimum 10 hours per week; hours may vary based on program needs and availability
● Contractor is responsible for their own taxes (1099)
● Outreach Specilist sets their schedule in coordination with the program coordinator
● This is not an employee position; no benefits are provided

$18 - $20 per hour
