Overview


The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is seeking Regional Voter Protection Directors through the 2026 Coordinated Campaign to help ensure that every eligible Pennsylvanian can cast a ballot and have that ballot counted. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver and team player who is passionate about voting rights, has experience coaching and managing volunteers, and is committed to electing Democrats at every level of government by building a strong, inclusive organization across the Commonwealth. Regional Voter Protection Directors will work alongside the Voter Protection Director, Deputy Voter Protection Directors (DVPDs), and other partners to design and execute a comprehensive, data-driven program that anticipates and resolves election administration challenges, scales volunteer programs, and delivers a leading voter protection program in their assigned region. This role blends election administration strategy with large-scale operational leadership: implementing systems, training infrastructure, volunteer capacity, and real-time incident response for all phases of the voting process. 


Duties and Responsibilities


Regional Voter Protection Directors will lead and/or support the following areas:


  • Recruit, train, and organize volunteer leaders within their region to serve as county liaisons, observers, and other voter protection roles; 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within region, including election administration officials, elected officials, community leaders, and volunteers; 
  • Monitor developments in local election administration in region and lead advocacy efforts to proactively expand voting access;
  • Identify and resolve obstacles encountered by voters within region, ranging from individual problems to those with wide-scale implications;
  • Develop expertise on state voting and election administration law and collaborate closely with partners to ensure voters have easy access to accurate information on where, when, and how to vote;
  • Support voter education efforts, including creating and reviewing materials and engaging with local organizations; and
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Voter Protection Director.



Qualifications and Requirements


  • At least 1 cycle of experience working in voter protection, or at least 1 cycle of experience working in organizing or other campaign roles with a thorough understanding of voting laws and procedures, is preferred, but not required. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to voting rights, voter access, and electing Democrats at every level of government.
  • Experience effectively communicating complex legal and policy concepts for legal and non-legal audiences. 
  • Strong judgment and ability to solve problems under pressure; comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting timelines and priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including election officials, party leaders, volunteers, and coalition partners.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours (nights/weekends) as Election Day approaches and during Early Vote and Election Day operations.
  • Willingness to travel across Pennsylvania; access to reliable transportation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Votebuilder/NGPVAN, Google Workspace, and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Pennsylvania is preferred, but not required.

Salary & Benefits


This position is salaried at $6,500 per month, with employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance.
