Pediatric Heart Care is seeking qualified Medical Assistants to join the growing practice and be an integral part of the clinic.
Description
Qualifications:
MA Diploma/ Certification. Without MA Diploma/ Certification (1+ years of experience preferred).
Bilingual (Spanish, English)
Experience in working with pediatric patients is preferred.
Experience with obtaining ECG (EKG) is preferred.
Up to date with vaccination as per CDC guidelines.
Able to travel to outreach clinic (Baytown, TX) independently.
Responsibilities:
Maintain quality patient experience: ensure a safe patient environment, office, equipment and exam room cleanliness for patient care in adherence to infection control policy and procedures.
Patient check-in procedure including but not limited to eligibility verification, verify demographics, accept co-pay/ deductibles, schedule appointments, etc.
Perform and document patient’s intake vitals to include height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturations and respiration rate; repeat and notify clinician of any abnormal findings immediately.
Perform ECG (EKG) on the patient.
Place holter monitor/ event monitor on the patients when ordered (training will be provided).
Accurate documentation of details and update medical records to include chief complaint, current medications (with drug name, dosing, route), allergies, medical, surgical, family, social histories, etc.
Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review and treatment follow-up as needed.
Prepare patient for clinical evaluation in timely manner.
Complete patient follow up and tasks assigned to meet patient needs to include but not limited to answering phones, handling correspondence, prescription refill request providing clinician with necessary information as needed, obtaining medication/ procedure prior-authorization, assisting with patient referrals, patient form completion to include school clearance, sports and medication forms, etc.
Follow best practice standards, quality and key performance indicators set forth by the organization.
Stay compliant with practice's required training, policies and procedures.
Cross train and cross cover with other aspects of the clinic as needed.
