The Offsite Adoption Coordinator oversees and manages pet adoption events outside the shelter to increase animal placement and community engagement. Key responsibilities include organizing and setting up offsite adoption events, coordinating with partner locations (such as pet stores or community venues), and ensuring animals are transported, cared for, and showcased effectively. The role involves maintaining adoption paperwork, providing excellent customer service to potential adopters, and promoting the shelter’s mission. Strong communication, organizational skills, and animal handling experience are essential. This position is vital for expanding outreach and finding homes for shelter animals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the adoption process for animals in our care
- Coordinate and conduct adoption interviews and screenings
- Match potential adopters with suitable pets based on their lifestyle and preferences
- Provide guidance and support to adopters throughout the adoption process
- Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately
- Coordinate transportation of adopted animals to their new homes, if needed
- Maintain accurate records of adoptions and update database accordingly
- Collaborate with other staff members to promote adoption events and initiatives
- Assist with the care and welfare of animals in the shelter as needed
Skills:
-Experience managing, coordinating and scheduling a team
- Veterinary technician experience or background knowledge in animal care preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with potential adopters
- Knowledge of animal behavior, training, and handling techniques
- Familiarity with pet grooming and basic health care needs
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping
