A compassionate individual to live with, care for, and support our Core Members — adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities — for the role of Home Life Leader (HLL).
Founded in 2007, Peacehaven Community Farm set out to create a place where parents and their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities could find a meaningful solution to living and community after aging out of the school system around the age of 21. In 2014 the first home at Peacehaven, Susan’s View, was opened. It, like the people that inhabit it, is beautiful and evolving, and an example of what an integrated community with people of all abilities can look like.
We are searching for a compassionate individual to live with, care for, and support our Core Members — adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities — for the role of Home Life Leader (HLL).
The two HLLs at Peacehaven take the lead in cultivating moments of community and flourishing for our Core Members as they integrate and participate in life on and off the farm. They provide Core Members with a safe, stable, and loving home, and support their integrated participation in all aspects of daily life. Sharing life with the Core Members and working as part of the home and community life team, the HLLs learn how to serve and relate to others in this unique and vibrant environment.
The ideal candidate for this position is able to integrate the responsibilities of the position in an organic way that fosters autonomy and growth with the Core Members. Additionally, schedules and goals are set by Core Members, their families, and the home and community life team. This role requires trust, collaboration, and communication to ensure all members of the Peacehaven community thrive in their learning, working, and playing together. An ability to go with the flow at times and at other times the ability to carefully discern when to go with the flow and when to take the lead in intervening is needed to succeed in this role of “doing life” with the Core Members.
This is a live-in position, with two HLLs sharing the responsibilities throughout the week. Supported by the Director of Housing, this is a full-time, salaried position, and HLLs are eligible for Peacehaven employee benefits.
If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, we'd love to talk to you.
