POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with 7–10+ years of hands-on clinical experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-oriented professional who demonstrates clinical competency across a broad range of patient care tasks and thrives in a collaborative, physician-led practice environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SQ) injections accurately and safely per physician orders
- Conduct 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG) and relay findings promptly to the physician
- Obtain and document patient vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and oxygen saturation
- Administer and score PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire) and SLUMS (St. Louis University Mental Status Exam) assessments
- Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy with proficiency and a focus on patient comfort
- Administer nebulizing treatments including device setup, patient education, and monitoring throughout the procedure
- Administer supplemental oxygen via nasal cannula (NC), including flow rate titration per physician orders and ongoing patient monitoring
- Assist the physician during in-office procedures including setup, instrumentation, specimen handling, and post-procedure care
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to document clinical data, update patient charts, process orders, and manage patient communications
- Maintain clean, properly stocked, and organized exam rooms and clinical supply areas
- Uphold HIPAA compliance and all patient privacy and confidentiality standards at all times
- Maintain active CMA certification through required continuing education and timely renewal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential through AAMA, NHA, or equivalent nationally recognized certifying body
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on clinical medical assisting experience (10+ years preferred)
- Demonstrated competency in IM and SQ injection techniques
- Proficiency performing and recording 12-lead ECGs
- Experience administering and scoring PHQ-9 and SLUMS assessments
- Skilled in phlebotomy and proper specimen handling and processing
- Experience administering nebulizing treatments and oxygen therapy via nasal cannula
- Competency in assisting physicians with in-office clinical procedures
- Working knowledge of at least one EMR platform (e.g., Epic, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a patient-first approach
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in primary care, internal medicine, geriatrics, or family medicine settings
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus
- Familiarity with value-based care models and chronic disease management programs
- Experience with point-of-care (POC) testing and laboratory processing
CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE
The selected candidate must maintain their CMA certification in active standing throughout employment. This includes completing all required continuing education units (CEUs), adhering to renewal timelines established by the certifying body, and providing documentation of current certification upon request or at time of renewal.
