Dog Walker/Pet Sitter (Pet Care Technician) — Paws Around Motown

Paws Around Motown is a professional mobile pet care company in Oakland County. We’re a team of skilled pet care professionals who take our work seriously, and we’re looking for a dependable walker who does too.

WHAT THIS ROLE ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

Active, independent, and close to home. Your routes stay in one part of the county.

• In-home dog walks and drop-in visits for multi-pet households
• Feeding, hydration, and medication administration
• Snout-to-Tail Health Assessments. You’re our eyes in the field.
• Detailed visit reports with photos through our app
• Handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and behavioral backgrounds
• Handling and caring for cats and other small animals
• Outdoor work year-round in Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Franklin

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who shows up and thinks clearly. You ask good questions, bring ideas, and lean on your leadership team. We’ll train you on how we do things, and you’ll learn our standards inside and out. When a moment comes where waiting for an answer isn’t an option, you take what you’ve learned and make the call we’d make. Our clients trust us with their homes and their pets, so dependability and sound judgment matter.

You’re a strong fit if you:

• Love dogs and read their body language, not just their leash
• Are comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and other small pets
• Stay active and don’t mind walking several miles a day in any Michigan weather
• Pick up new apps and systems quickly and keep your visit reports detailed and accurate
• Communicate clearly with clients and your team, in writing and in person
• Take feedback well and put it into practice on the next visit
• Take pride in doing the job right every single visit, even when no one is watching

WHAT PAM OFFERS

• Pay: $15-17 per hour
• Part-time or full-time hours, minimum 25 per week
• Consistent service area
• Pet CPR and First Aid certification, provided by PAM
• A structured training system with a dedicated mentor
• Real advancement pathways: Senior Pet Care Specialist, Team Leader, and beyond for the right person
• Transparent leadership that communicates clearly and consistently

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 25 hours per week
• Available at least 3 weekdays per week. Thursday is required. (Examples: Mon/Wed/Thu or Tue/Wed/Thu)
• Available for the 8:00 am–5:00 pm shift, the 11:00 am–8:00 pm shift, or both on your scheduled days
• One weekend per month
• Available to work all or most major holidays

THE FINE PRINT

• Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable insured vehicle required
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• Must live within a reasonable drive of Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Franklin
• Background check required
