Pathway to Hope Controller Remote · Part time

The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $1 million and coordinate with staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Controller will ensure that Pathway To Hope has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will work closely with program leaders and staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations. This is a part-time, senior-level, hourly position. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Description

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Analyze general ledger detail at month-end and make necessary Journal Entries

2. Review monthly deposits for accurate coding

3. Reconcile balance sheet accounts

4. Maintain the asset schedule

5. Collaborate with bookkeeping to manage accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions

6. Prepare monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet and Income Statement) in advance of Board Meetings

7. Develop and monitor financial performance metrics

8. File monthly grant reports according to contract schedules

9. Monitor and report on grant budgets

10. Complete budget adjustments for grants as needed

11. Assist in budgeting for new grants

12. Work on new grant reports as per contract requirements

13. Handle monthly accruals and allocations

14. Ensure compliance with GAAP standards

15. Verify quarterly filings such as 941 and State Unemployment

16. Assist in engagement with external auditors and completion of audit work papers

17. Assist in the write-up of the annual audit

18. Collaborate with CEO and Internal Affairs Committee on audit and 990 review

19. Assess current accounting operations and suggest improvements

20. Manage the budget process

21. Oversee financial policy and procedures manual

22. Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director


Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong verbal and written communication skills

2. Audit experience

3. Proficiency in Quickbooks online and standard office and accounting software

4. Familiarity with Google Drive

5. Strong managerial skills

6. Excellent organization and attention to detail

7. Ability to explain financial information in simple terms

8. Professional interaction with board members, leadership team, and external parties

9. Mission-driven and dedicated to serving the community


Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, with five years of relevant experience; CPA and/or MBA preferred

2. Minimum five years in a senior management position at a nonprofit organization


Location: Pathway To Hope Headquarters, with remote work options available

$29 - $34 per hour
