DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide and support the LNP formulation and process development
- Support a core function of the team to produce, characterize, and optimize LNP formulations
- Establish and implement a toolset to support LNP process development. This will include high throughput screening technologies and mixing systems
- Drive fundamental improvement of LNP synthesis understanding towards enhancements and simplification of LNP formation
- Screen novel lipids for improved in vivo potency
- Support the generation of preclinical LNP material generation
- Drive the selection, tech transfer, and coordination of contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) for GMP
- Support the writing of protocols and technical reports to support drug product clinical development
- Organize work flows as well as completing individual and team objectives to maintain project timelines
- In-depth track record of understanding and experience of RNA containing LNP synthesis and processing
- Understanding of lipid chemistry, lipid modifications, lipid synthesis, and standard analytical techniques for macromolecules
- Demonstrated understanding of the current therapeutic discovery, and process development, especially in gene therapy, gene editing, mRNA, RNAi, or antisense Support the interactions across the company on behalf of the team to ensure alignment of the team’s activity with company priorities
- Work with founders and executive team in building out company’s research development plan and strategy
- Will be involved with developing core IP around early research work
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD (or MSc with work experience equivalent) with specialization in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Molecular Biology or related scientific discipline.
- Previous team leadership experience. Ideally has led teams that submitted INDs.
- 2+ years of industry experience in preclinical candidate development focused on genetic disease
- Direct industry experience in gene therapy or gene editing technologies
- Outstanding teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Team leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of personnel development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with mRNA, DNA, siRNA
Experience with non-viral delivery methods (eg lipid nanoparticles). Ability to initiate and direct interactions and collaborations with KOLs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
