About the Role
This is a ground-floor hire. The right person grows into our Lead Carpenter over the next 12–24 months as we add additional field hires. You'll work alongside our founder on active projects, learn how we run jobs, and progressively take on more autonomy. By Year 2, you're running jobs day-to-day, coordinating subcontractors, and helping mentor newer field staff.
The role is hands-on across the full project lifecycle — selective demolition through final punch list — with a focus on cabinetry, trim, doors, finish carpentry, and supporting trades (light plumbing, light electrical, drywall, tile prep). We work almost exclusively in occupied homes, so professionalism with clients and rigorous cleanup standards matter as much as craftsmanship.
Schedule and Location
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch + two paid 10-minute rest breaks per California labor law
- Location: Work performed across the Greater Sacramento area (Sacramento County and surrounding); employee reports directly to active jobsites
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work across all phases of remodeling — not just finish carpentry:
- Selective demolition of cabinetry, countertops, flooring, drywall, and fixtures
- Light framing — doorways, wall modifications, blocking, minor structural changes
- Drywall installation, repair, and prep for paint
- Cabinetry installation — kitchen, bath, built-ins
- Trim and millwork — base, crown, casing, doors, hardware, custom details
- Tile substrate prep — backerboard, waterproofing, layout
- Light plumbing and electrical under PCI's license — toilets, faucets, vanities, fixtures, receptacles
- Punch list and final detail work — the things clients notice first
You'll also maintain clean, organized jobsites with daily broom-clean standards, install and maintain dust containment and floor protection in occupied homes, and communicate directly with homeowners about scope and progress.

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and manufacturer specifications
- Strong mathematical skills for measurement, layout, and material estimation
- Safe operation of standard carpentry hand and power tools
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience working in occupied-home remodeling
- Demonstrated experience with high-end cabinetry installation
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Familiarity with JobTread or comparable project management software
- Prior experience working at a NARI-affiliated company
