POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Associate plays a key role in supporting Park Square Theatre’s fundraising and advancement efforts. This position provides essential administrative, project, and relationship-management support across all revenue streams, including individual giving, major gifts, special events, corporate sponsorships, and foundation and government grants.

Working closely with the Director of Communication and Development, the Development Associate ensures accurate gift processing, strong donor stewardship, effective fundraising operations, and timely reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who is interested in nonprofit development and passionate about supporting the mission of a leading Twin Cities theatre.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Gift Processing and Donor Stewardship

  • Track gift pledges and payments; oversee accurate and timely gift entry.
  • Generate and send donor acknowledgements, receipts, and thank-you letters.
  • Manage reports related to donor recognition, benefits, and stewardship activities.
  • Ensure donor data integrity and confidentiality in all systems.

Database and Records Management

  • Maintain the donor database, including paper and electronic files.
  • Track funding documentation, correspondence, and grant records.
  • Prepare list pulls and segmentation for direct mail appeals, campaigns, and event invitations.
  • Support regular database clean-up and reporting.

Fundraising and Donor Engagement

  • Assist with donor correspondence, solicitation letters, and follow-up communications.
  • Support donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship-building events.
  • Conduct prospect research for individual donors, corporate partners, and foundation and government funding opportunities.
  • Assist with the coordination and tracking of sponsorships and donor benefits.

Grants and Institutional Giving Support

  • Assist with foundation and government grant inquiries, applications, and reporting.
  • Track grant deadlines, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Maintain grant calendars and supporting documentation.

Board and Committee Support

  • Assist with Board and committee management, including preparing briefing materials, reports, and agendas.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, scheduling, and follow-up materials as needed.

Planning and Administration

  • Maintain development calendars, timelines, and internal tracking tools.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration related to fundraising and events.
  • Perform other development-related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.\
  • Professional phone and email manner.
  • Experience working with donor databases or CRMs, including list pulls and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Word, Excel, and project management tools such as Asana.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to work creatively and proactively.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising or development (arts or theatre organizations a plus).
  • Experience in arts administration and/or event planning.
  • Familiarity with donor stewardship best practices and fundraising operations.


Experience in theatre is not required; enthusiasm for supporting Park Square Theatre’s mission and the Twin Cities arts community is essential.

Salary

$21 - $24 per hour
