About Park Hill Church

Park Hill Church is a community committed to practicing the way of Jesus together in San Diego—being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did. Sunday gatherings are our primary way to worship, learn Scripture, pray for one another, and hear from the Spirit. We believe that following Jesus shapes our hearts, relationships, and community. Our vision is that as we live this way, our lives, our communities, and our city will be transformed, and Jesus' prayer will be realized—that the Father's kingdom would come in San Diego as it is in heaven.

Description

Role Summary

The Social Media Coordinator gives shape and voice to Park Hill's presence across Instagram, our website touchpoints, and other digital channels. This is a creator-first role with light strategic input—you'll shoot, edit, write, and post the content that tells the story of our church, while helping to refine the voice, calendar, and direction of our digital presence over time. This role reports directly to the Co-Lead Pastors and works in close collaboration with Carter Taylor (Worship & Creative) on visual and creative continuity, and with the broader staff to surface the stories worth telling.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation:

  • Shoot, edit, and produce photo and video content from Sunday gatherings, community events, and the everyday life of the church.
  • Write copy that sounds like Park Hill—warm, honest, theologically thoughtful, and free of churchy clichés.
  • Design simple graphics and visual assets as needed, working within Park Hill's established visual language.

Posting & Scheduling:

  • Maintain a consistent posting rhythm across Instagram and Facebook, in concert with the e-Weekly, with Sundays as a non-negotiable cadence.
  • Manage a rolling content calendar that integrates with sermon series, seasonal rhythms (Advent, Lent, Easter, Holy Week), and church-wide initiatives.
  • Monitor and respond to comments and DMs with pastoral warmth, escalating to staff when appropriate.

Voice, Strategy & Growth:

  • Contribute to ongoing conversations about Park Hill's digital voice, audience, and direction—bringing instincts and ideas, not just executing handoffs.
  • Track basic engagement and growth metrics to inform what's working and what to adjust.
  • Stay current with platform changes, content trends, and what other churches and creators are doing well.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Surface stories worth telling by staying connected to staff, community group leaders, and the rhythms of congregational life. This will happen by joining our Monday staff meetings, beginning on a twice-monthly basis.
  • Coordinate with Worship & Creative Director and the creative team/graphic designer to keep visual and tonal continuity across worship, web, and social.
  • Maintain organized digital asset libraries (photos, videos, templates) for easy reuse and team access.

Qualifications

  • Deep alignment with Park Hill Church's mission, values, and bridge-building theological posture
  • Strong creator portfolio—photo, video, and written content that demonstrates eye, taste, and storytelling instinct
  • Working knowledge of Instagram, Reels, and other primary social platforms (and an instinct for where to lean and where not to)
  • Comfort with editing tools (Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or equivalents) and basic graphic design
  • Self-directed and organized—able to own a calendar, meet deadlines, and follow through without heavy oversight
  • A writing voice that's warm, clear, and free of religious jargon
  • Commitment to orthodox Christian faith and active participation in the life of Park Hill (or willingness to become so)

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Tell the story of a church that’s passionate about God’s presence—and have real creative ownership of how that story gets told.
  • Work directly with the co-lead pastors, with room to bring instincts and ideas to the table, not just execute.
  • Contribute to a digital presence that's trying to be honest and humane in a space that often isn't.
