Paloma Learning Account Executive Remote · Full time Company website

A masterful, relentless relationship-builder to own the full sales cycle at a venture-backed edtech startup turning parents into their kids' most powerful tutors.

Description

About Paloma:

The achievement gap has persisted for the past half century, despite trillions invested in classroom intervention. Research shows that families—not schools—are the biggest determinants of student success. Parents’ love for their children is the single greatest—and most underutilized—natural resource in education.

Paloma is a venture-backed startup that harnesses AI to unleash parents' untapped teaching potential. Our mobile app helps PreK-2 families  build a habit of tutoring their kids for 15 minutes a day. Parents deliver rigorous, curriculum-aligned, and joyful instruction daily at home. Over a school year, this unlocks 1,000 hours of one-on-one instruction for every classroom! Check out a short demo here.

In 55 Title I districts across the country—including Houston ISD, LAUSD, and NYCPS—we're getting most rostered parents to successfully tutor their kids. Families use Paloma with remarkable consistency; our monthly user retention outperforms Duolingo and Candy Crush. Last year, this accelerated reading growth by 64%, with even larger gains for multilingual learners.

As one district leader put it, “Paloma awakens the sleeping giant of parents as tutors.” We’re on a mission to create a world in which every parent is enabled to help their kids thrive.

About the role:

On the heels of an oversubscribed Series A, Paloma is on track to triple again this year. We're looking for a world-class Account Executive to drive continued growth, scaling Paloma’s impact to school districts across the country.

In this role, you’ll own the full sales cycle—from prospecting through close—with an ambitious quota of $1M in new ARR. The successful candidate is a masterful, authentic relationship-builder who is especially compelling with senior district leaders (e.g., CAO, director of teaching & learning, superintendent, etc.) You have an unreasonable degree of persistence, willing to outwork anyone to close a deal. You are also a voracious learner, quick to absorb existing best practices and eager to iterate and improve upon Paloma’s playbook.

This is not a typical sales role. You'll work closely with Paloma’s CEO & Cofounder, who closely supports and mentors sales leaders. Opportunities for career growth abound as Paloma continues its meteoric trajectory. Duolingo built a massive business around people’s desire to learn languages. There’s an even bigger business to build around parents’ desire to help their kids thrive.

What you’ll do:

Own Revenue Growth

  • Manage a full-cycle sales pipeline from initial outreach through contract execution.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Develop territory plans and strategic account plans for key districts and states.

Build Network & Brand

  • Develop trusted relationships with district superintendents, chief academic officers, curriculum leaders, etc.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with key influencers (e.g., parent advocacy groups, district TA providers, district fellowships, collective action coalitions)
  • Represent Paloma at conferences, district meetings, and industry events.

Help Build the Company

  • Share customer insights that inform product development and marketing.
  • Contribute to messaging, sales collateral, and sales process improvements.
  • Serve as a thought partner on go-to-market strategy.

What we’re looking for:

Required

  • 5+ years of quota-carrying B2B sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success with top-of-funnel sourcing.
  • Demonstrated success closing complex six-figure deals, managing multiple stakeholders to close.
  • Strong consultative selling and exemplary communication skills (written and verbal).
  • You are profoundly passionate about Paloma’s mission to help marginalized parents support their children’s learning and success
  • You are extraordinarily driven and persistent. When you have a goal, you’ll move mountains to reach it. Effort is immaterial
  • You’re organized and capable of managing high volumes of outreach without losing quality or personalization
  • You’re metrics-driven and goal-obsessed. You love tracking your numbers and iterating based on results
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–30%.

Preferred

  • Experience selling into K-12 school districts.
  • Experience selling SaaS, curriculum, intervention, assessment, and/or education technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with literacy instruction, MTSS, family engagement, and educational funding streams.
  • Demonstrated success in a startup environment.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary + commission (OTE: $180k-$220k, with accelerators for overperformance)
  • Equity in a high-growth, mission-driven company
  • Generous, family-friendly health, dental, vision & retirement benefits
  • 20 days PTO annually plus federal and company holidays.
  • Fully remote team with a vibrant culture. (Everyone says their team is great, but our team and culture are truly magical. You’ll judge for yourself 🙂)
  • Personal & professional development funds
