At Pair With ABA, we are seeking a dedicated Billing/Authorization Specialist. The Billing and Authorization Specialist plays a vital role in the financial health of our behavioral therapy center by managing insurance authorizations and ensuring accurate and timely billing. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a working knowledge of medical billing and insurance procedures, particularly within behavioral health services such as ABA therapy, counseling, and psychological evaluations.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to services.
  • Obtain initial and ongoing authorizations for therapy services including ABA, speech therapy, and counseling.
  • Submit accurate insurance claims (electronic and paper) in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and take corrective actions.
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and resubmissions.
  • Track and maintain updated authorization records and notify clinical staff of expiration or coverage limits.
  • Assist patients with billing-related questions and provide statements as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with front office, clinical, and management teams to ensure streamlined billing and authorization processes.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in medical billing and insurance authorization, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Proficiency with billing software and clearinghouses (e.g., Kareo, SimplePractice, Office Ally).
  • Familiarity with CPT codes and ICD-10 coding related to behavioral health.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Salary

$18 - $24 per hour
