Job Duties:

Common Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures
  • Scrub in and assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare and position patients for surgery
  • Assist with draping patients and preparing surgical sites
  • Operate sterilization equipment and ensure proper handling of instruments
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures
  • Handle specimens according to facility policy
  • Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures
  • Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning properly
  • Follow infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures
  • Document surgical case information as required


Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma from a Surgical Technologist accredited program.
  • Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification is required
  • Driver's License
  • Eligibility for Surgical Technologist Certification
