Licensed structural engineer to serve as Engineer of Record on residential and commercial projects; design, calculations, team mentoring, and field assessments for our Memphis-based firm.

About Ozer Engineering, LLC.

Why Work at Ozer? Ozer is a boutique structural engineering firm focused on existing buildings, new structures and art installations. We help owners, architects, artists, landscape architects, and contractors figure out how a structure is really performing — and how to strengthen, repair, or improve it without guesswork. We're not a firm that stays behind a desk. Our engineers are in crawlspaces, up in attics, and walking job sites — seeing firsthand how structures are actually put together, not just how they look on paper. That hands-on approach is how we diagnose problems and give clients guidance they can actually build on. If you're early in your career, this is where you cut your teeth. You'll get inside real buildings — houses, small commercial spaces — and start connecting the dots between what you learned in school and how structures behave in the real world. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with senior engineers, watch construction happen, and see the direct line between an engineering decision and the building it affects. If you have been in the field for a while, this is a great place to grow your career and really shine. We're a small team, which means your work actually matters here — no getting lost in a big org chart. If you're the right fit, you'll grow fast, take real ownership, and have a hand in shaping where this firm goes next.

Description

Structural Engineer of Record (PE) — Memphis, TN

Ozer Engineering, LLC

Put your stamp on Memphis—and build work you're proud to call your own.

At Ozer Engineering, we take on the work a lot of engineers won't. We partner with homeowners, realtors, property managers, and building owners to make sure their structures are sound — often within real budget limitations. That's the work we do, and it's why we've been able to assess and help thousands of property owners in Memphis across 15 years - with an exciting future ahead.

We're looking for a licensed structural PE ready to join us as an Engineer of Record, lead meaningful projects, and help shape our next chapter. You won't be doing it alone. You'll work alongside a close-knit team that values thoughtful engineering, outstanding client service, and learning from one another. During your first 90 days, you'll also be mentored directly by our founder as you get to know our clients, projects, processes, and approach to engineering.

The pay: $90,000–$100,000, based on experience, plus bonus and profit-sharing opportunities.

The schedule: This is a 40-hour-per-week position. After your first 90 days, you may choose to work four 10-hour days—Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday—or continue with a traditional five-day schedule. Peak periods and project deadlines require additional hours and we believe in being transparent about that expectation upfront and communicating openly when busy seasons arise.

The work: Adaptive Reuse. Commercial properties. Historic rehabilitation. Community revitalization. Property management portfolios. Residential structures. Churches and houses of faith. You’ll engineer across steel, concrete, wood, and masonry, with enough variety to keep your skills growing and your days interesting.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as an Engineer of Record, turning site conditions and client needs into complete, buildable structural plans/solutions
  • Engineer structural solutions and develop drawings in Revit from the ground up
  • Produce calculations, details, specifications, and construction documents
  • Review, stamp, and seal structural drawings and calculations
  • Lead projects from the first client conversation through completion
  • Work directly with homeowners, architects, property managers, building owners, realtors, and developers
  • Deliver responsive, thoughtful service that earns clients’ trust and makes them want to work with us again
  • Visit project sites and personally verify existing conditions, including areas that require navigating tight crawlspaces
  • Track projects and billable hours accurately in our project management software
  • Mentor junior engineers and help the team grow in skill and expertise
  • Collaborate with our licensed PE and the rest of the team on technical decisions, quality control, and engineering standards
  • Build relationships with AIA members and other industry partners while helping more people discover our work
  • Help improve our internal processes and technical standards
  • Expand your professional reach by adding licenses in other states—with our support

What you’ll bring

  • An active PE license, ideally MLE-designated and already held in Tennessee — but MLE status in any reciprocal state works too, and we'll help you add Tennessee. Licenses in AZ, AR, MS, CA, TX, or PA are a nice bonus, not a requirement.
  • Approximately 3–8 years of structural engineering experience including Engineer of Record experience involving stamped and sealed work
  • Experience developing structural plans and construction documents in a CAD system - Revit is a bonus.
  • Experience with residential and small-to-midsize projects
  • Clear, confident communication with clients, architects, and project partners
  • Strong organization, timekeeping, and project-management habits, you will be using our Project Management software to track hours and expenses
  • A genuine commitment to outstanding client service
  • The ability to guide, encourage, and develop junior engineers
  • The humility, compassion, and grace to serve people and communities with care
  • The ingenuity and courage to create responsible structural solutions for properties in need of revitalization—often within lean budgets
  • A willingness to pursue Arkansas and Mississippi licensure soon after joining; we’ll support the process, and the groundwork is already underway
  • The ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to inspect field conditions firsthand—including navigating crawlspaces as narrow as 18 inches for distances of up to 50 feet

What you’ll get

  • $90,000–$100,000 base salary, based on experience
  • Hands-on mentorship from our founder during your first 90 days
  • A 40-hour workweek (except during peak times), with the option after 90 days to work four 10-hour days—Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday
  • Three weeks of PTO per year for vacation and sick time
  • Eight paid federal holidays
  • A 401(k) with a 100% company match on the first 3% contributed, plus a 50% match on the next 2%, available after 90 days
  • Eligibility for a performance bonus at your 90-day review
  • Separate eligibility for our annually evaluated profit-sharing pool after 6 months of service
  • A company-paid gym membership
  • Paid meals and mileage for out-of-town project travel
  • Company-paid parking
  • Robot and drone equipment to support field inspections—experience with either is a plus, not a requirement
  • Support for Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi licensure, if needed
  • A downtown Memphis workplace close enough to the Mississippi River for a lunchtime stroll
  • An office location that makes it easy to head to a Grizzlies game after work
  • Meaningful influence in an established firm that’s growing
  • A team that will value your perspective, support your development, and recognize your impact
