Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of operating room experience, 5 years or more preferred.
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center a plus.
- Certification strongly preferred :
- CST through the NBSTSA; or
- TS-C through the NCCT
Must be qualified to work as a Surgical Technologist in New Jersey under NJ 26:2H-12.63
Applicant must meet at least ONE of the requirements listed below:
- Has successfully completed a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for surgical technologists; or
- Holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, or other nationally recognized credentialing organization; or
- Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; or
- Provides evidence that the person was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility on the effective date of this act; or
- Is in the service of the federal government, to the extent that individual is performing surgical technology duties related to that service.
*Additionally NJ 26:2H-12.63 requires practicing Surgical Technologists to
complete 15 CEU's per year.
