The Senior Staff Accountant, in partnership with the Fiscal Team, is responsible for fiscal operations to maintain the good standing and financial responsibility of the $20M+ agency. Key responsibilities include supervision and oversight of day to day accounting functions, financial reporting, and reconciliation. This position provides direct supervision to Staff Accountant and reports directly to the Manager of Accounting and Reporting.

o While this position does not serve clients directly, alignment with CFR’s core values is essential

for success in the role. This position is tasked with telling client stories with data and utilizing

best practices to serve staff who strive to achieve good outcomes for clients.

● Robust Supervision and Support

o Direct Supervision of the Staff Accountant and provides oversight to all day to day accounting

functions.

● Accounting Functions

o Process digital payments for weekly accounts payable.

o Maintain general ledger system using QuickBooks Online;

o Maintain and monitor control procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are thoroughly

reviewed, coded and supported by adequate documentation;

o Prepare financial statements and analytical ad hoc reports;

o Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts;

o Assist CFR’s independent auditors by preparing financial reports and schedules, and addressing all

inquiries;

o Supports and contributes to year end duties including but not limited to 1099 preparation, posting

of closing and post-closing Journal Entries., and updates to Fiscal Manual;

o Maintain accruals for expert witness, pension, and vacation rollover expenses;

o Monthly preparation of internal budget reports;

o Regular evaluation of Healthy Financial Benchmarks.

Eligibility & Qualifications:

● A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting

● Demonstrate Commitment to mission and core values

● At least 3 years of experience performing and managing nonprofit fiscal operations

● At least 1 year of supervisory experience

● Demonstrated understanding of GAAP

● Demonstrated Excel expertise and strong data analysis skills

● Strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated sensitivity to DEIB issues, teamwork

skills and an aptitude for problem solving and management of staff.

Salary

$78,000 - $92,000 per year
