The Grades 2–8 Math Teacher plays a vital role in fostering mathematical thinking, confidence, and problem-solving skills in a mixed-ability, inclusive learning environment. In this role, you will design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction for students in grades 2–8 while differentiating lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs. Through hands-on learning, real-world applications, and data-driven instruction, you will help students build strong mathematical foundations and develop a lifelong confidence in math.

Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and families, you will create an inclusive classroom culture where every student is supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and deliver engaging math instruction aligned to California Common Core State Standards for grades 2–8.
• Implement the Ready Math curriculum while adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Differentiate instruction using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to support students with diverse learning profiles and abilities.
• Provide targeted math interventions for students requiring additional academic support and monitor progress using assessment data.
• Foster conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving through hands-on, project-based, and collaborative learning experiences.
• Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Develop and maintain individualized learning plans that reflect each student's academic level and learning needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special service providers, and instructional staff to ensure coordinated support for all learners.
• Utilize Google Classroom and other educational technology platforms to organize instruction, communicate with students and families, and manage assignments.
• Communicate student progress through regular family updates, parent conferences, Back to School Nights, and Open House events.
• Maintain accurate gradebooks and upload lesson plans a minimum of two weeks in advance.
• Contribute to curriculum development, professional learning, and school-wide initiatives.
• Serve as a positive, encouraging role model who fosters perseverance, curiosity, and a growth mindset in mathematics.
