The Head of Analytics Role


The Onramp Head of Analytics reports to the CEO and is responsible for leading the analytics team as a player-coach. You’ll work with large internal and external data sets, developing business models and forecasts that synthesize these inputs to inform the executive team and guide strategic direction.   You’ll provide critical real-time and periodic reports across the organization and to the executive team necessary to drive and improve business results. Your contributions will drive executive, product, sales, marketing, and account management decisions in near real-time and have a measurable impact on exceeding business objectives  across the organization.


Business Analysis and Modeling

  • Develop, implement, and manage strategies and testing programs to reduce risk, increase bottom-of-the-funnel conversions, and improve profitability
  • Lead policy development to enable expansion into new products and customer segments
  • Evaluate potential new vendors and data sets to incorporate into credit strategies and underwriting processes
  • Work closely with members of the operations, product, marketing, and engineering teams to plan and execute on deliverables 
  • Monitor vital daily, weekly, and monthly reporting KPIs to identify potential areas of concern and opportunity within the business
  • Deliver standardized reports ensuring that stakeholders have access to up-to-date and relevant data
  • Coordinate and lead initiatives that strengthen the accuracy and completeness of enterprise data being collected and reported on 
  • Build and refine forecast models based on key financial and operating metrics

  • Player-coach who will lead analytics while rolling up your sleeves and digging in on individual work contributions
  • Make recommendations to improve analytical effectiveness and own improvements while working with cross-functional teams to deliver new capabilities
  • Work daily with organizational leaders to keep them apprised of key business metrics while identifying threats and formulating responses necessary to attain and exceed growth objectives
  • Utilize your data-driven insights across the business to identify gaps in reporting and analytics capabilities
  • Make recommendations to improve analytical effectiveness and own improvements while working with cross-functional teams to deliver new capabilities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, statistics, math, economics, etc.); Masters degree a plus 
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial or consumer lending, credit risk management, and data analytics
  • A proven track record of success in making data-driven decisions to optimize credit policy across multiple products (e.g. credit cards, installment loans, business lines of credit, etc.) 
  • Deep experience with SQL, R, Python, or Excel, and a willingness to learn additional tools as necessary to help the business grow
  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financials, KPIs, and modeling to accurate represent historic and future business successes and risks
  • Experience working with executives and with key strategic partners in communicating business objectives based on KPIs and forecast models
  • Strong writing and presentation skills with the ability to succinctly present findings
  • Ability to quickly identify and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to roll your sleeves up and dig in
  • Experience managing and leading teams while rapidly delivering individual contributions
