About Us


Only7Seconds (O7S) is a national leader in addressing the youth loneliness crisis. By 2035, we aim to have two million youth and young adults experience meaningful, intentional connection. This will result in youth leading less lonely, more socially healthy lives. We will accomplish this by driving multimedia awareness campaigns, deploying evidence-informed resources, and building youth-led programs. This position will play a critical part of the next phase of our young organization’s growth.


The Mental and Social Health Ambassador will work collaboratively with the Only7Seconds programs staff and the Site Supervisor at their service site to expand understanding, education, and awareness of mental and social health across Washington communities. This position is ideal for a Washington State local, who is deeply rooted in their community. This part-time in-person service position is responsible for facilitating mental and social health program initiatives, participating in local events, and cultivating strong community engagement.

Slot Type: Minimum time AmeriCorps

  • 300 hours total position
  • 7-8 hours per week
  • Typical academic year position length (~9 months)

As part of this specific AmeriCorps program, we prioritize applications from people living within communities where service sites are located, and we prioritize applicants who are unhoused or unattached youth ages 18-24. 


Ambassador (MSHA) Responsibilities: MSHC members will be the mental and social health support at their respective sites. After their initial training, they will be equipped to work alongside site leadership to look at community and culture concerns, and find specific ways to infuse connection and social health into the fabric of the site. This will certainly include greeting youth as they come to the site and learning their names. It can include participating in staff meetings and trainings in order to share the voice of youth social health, elevating connection efforts across the site. It includes convening youth each week to participate in Club7, and sharing the Club7 opportunity with youth not yet involved, whether in casual conversations or in more structured presentations. These club sessions will require planning and resource development as well as site level coordination for each month’s community-wide connection challenge. All members will support tangible connection initiatives like co-regulation as part of behavior management or utilizing connection routines after school transitions (extended breaks from school). Service sites can be community third places or school sites. All members must pass the AmeriCorps background checks (National Service Criminal History Check). 


Key Responsibilities and Duties:


1. Program Facilitation

  • Facilitate the Club7 program at your host site.
  • Recruit and retain Club7 members at your host site by encouraging youth and creating an environment of belonging, where youth feel seen and valued. 
  • Ensure compliance with Only7Seconds and AmeriCorps program guidelines, policies, and regulations.


2. Community Engagement and Relationship Building:

  • Coordinate and implement SHARE Days monthly alongside host site staff and Club7 members. 
  • Coordinate and implement community-wide connection challenges alongside Club7 members and host site staff.
  • Serve as a local advocate for youth mental and social health and well-being.


3. Event Participation:

  • Support the events of your host site and other organizations by representing Only7Seconds (e.g., tabling at an event).


4. Communication:

  • Regularly communicate with your host site staff, Club7 members, Club7 members’ caregivers, Only7Seconds staff, and community members. 


5. Training Participation:

  • Attend and actively participate in all in-person program trainings.
  • Complete and participate in all virtual program trainings. 


Member Benefits: 

  • Total pre-tax stipend compensation: $5,200 for 40 weeks.
  • Segal Education award in the amount of $1,565.08 for 100% program completion and exiting in good standing.

Position Must Haves (qualifications): 

  • Friendly and effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work BOTH independently and in a team setting. 
  • Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Comfort learning to use new technology systems for timekeeping, event management, professional learning, etc. 
  • Ethical behavior and appropriate representation of the organization; professional and welcoming in your demeanor (in-person and virtually).
  • Passion for Only7Seconds' mission to end youth loneliness through meaningful connections.

  • A High School diploma, GED, or in the process of pursuing one.  


Position Nice-to-Haves (preferred but not required): 

  • Experience in youth engagement, community engagement, partnership development, community volunteerism, and/or public relations.
  • Experience with Gen-Z and Gen Alpha, indigenous populations, homeless youth or young adults, and/or unattached youth or youth in foster care.
  • Focused attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish and English.
