As a Safety Associate at OECS, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of manufacturing, warehouse, other general industry locations and construction sites. You will collaborate with company leaders to implement safety programs, policies and best practices. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a culture of safety excellence and minimizing workplace accidents and incidents for your clients.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Safety Management: Manage safety programs and services for a portfolio of 20+ clients, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, industry standards and company policies.
· Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the client's main point of contact regarding safety-related matters, building strong client relationships and addressing their specific safety needs and concerns.
· Collaborate with Clients: Establish safety goals and performance metrics, tracking and reporting progress regularly.
· Manage Client Expectations: Deliver high-quality safety services that align with their unique project needs and objectives. Provide timely and effective safety guidance to clients, offering solutions to enhance their safety performance.
· Safety Compliance: Monitor client's location(s) to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations, as well as industry standards.
· Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses for each general industry and construction project, identifying potential safety hazards and developing mitigation strategies.
· Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for general industry and construction personnel, including toolbox talks, safety meetings, site-specific and annual training.
· Incident Investigation: Assist with incident investigations when accidents or near misses occur, providing recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
· Safety Plans: Develop and maintain client-specific and site-specific safety plans, programs and emergency response procedures.
· Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits and inspections of general industry sites and construction sites, equipment and processes, documenting findings and providing tailored safety recommendations.
· Safety Documentation: Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, safety inspections and training records.
· Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety excellence among clients, promoting a shared commitment to safety principles and practices.
· OSHA Compliance and Client Support: Provide expert guidance to clients in preparing for and managing OSHA inspections, consultations and investigations. Attend OSHA inspections, consultations and/or investigations at client locations.
· Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations and emerging trends in general industry and construction safety that may impact clients. Proactively communicate relevant information.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Mobility: Safety Associates will move around general industry and construction sites. They must be able to walk, climb stairs or ladders and navigate obstacles safely.
· Visual Acuity: The ability to observe and assess safety hazards and compliance issues is crucial. Good vision, including close-up and distance vision, is necessary for identifying potential safety concerns.
· Hearing: Good hearing is important for communication and for detecting warning signals, alarms or other auditory cues related to safety on general industry or construction sites.
· Lifting and Carrying: Depending on the situation, Safety Associates may need to lift and carry safety equipment, documents or materials. This may involve lifting up to 50 lbs.
· Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. Safety Associates must communicate clearly with clients, management personnel, and team members.
· Climbing: Safety Associates may need to climb ladders, stairs or structures to assess safety conditions or conduct inspections.
· Manual Dexterity: Safety Associates may need to use hand tools or equipment, handle safety documentation and operate mobile devices for data recording and communication.
· Sitting/Desk Work: While a significant part of the job involves fieldwork, there are also administrative tasks that require sitting at a desk, using a computer and working on reports and safety plans.
· Driving Endurance: The ability to sit for extended periods, maintain focus and remain alert while driving is essential. Must have the physical stamina necessary to complete trips safely and efficiently.
