In need of a Boat Mechanic to help with repairs of our boats. Experience with Yamaha motors a plus.
Welcome to Ocean Star International. We are a Utah based company focused on manufacturing high quality aquaculture feed, and most commonly recognised for our Brine Shrimp Eggs harvested out of the Great Salt Lake. We have been in the business for over 40 years. We hope that you will take the next step in joining our amazing team.
We are currently looking for a Marine Mechanic who can help fix and maintain our various boats throughout the year. Because of the nature of our business, there are two seasons that you will be involved with. During our off-season months, February 1st through September 30th, you would be working a standard 40 hour work-week here at our plant in Snowville, Utah, performing standard maintenance and repairs to ensure that the boats are in good shape for our next harvest season. If not taken care of properly, the salinity of The Great Salt Lake will erode and wear down our boats and other equipment over time. So it is imperative that we take the opportunity during the offseason to ensure everything is in tip top shape for the next harvest season.
Our harvest season runs from October 1st through January 31st. The job you will perform each day is essential in ensuring we are able to maximize our harvest and run efficiently each day. During this time you will be stationed at our camp located on the beach of the south arm of The Great Salt Lake on Stansbury Island. You would be required to work more of a “graveyard shift” to ensure that, as our boats come in each night, they are ready and running properly for the next day of harvesting brine shrimp eggs. Because this job is so vital to our operation, we would require you to be available at all times during the season. We typically ask that harvest employees save any vacation plans for after the season is over. However, like we mentioned earlier, because this position is so vital to our company, there are also many opportunities for overtime and bonuses.
Some of the other benefits we offer are:
Great hourly rate
Overtime opportunities
Bonus opportunities
Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance (Company covers 50 %)
401k with a 5% match after a year of service
Life insurance and AD&D Insurance (Company covers 100 %)
On site living arrangements throughout the year, or partial year, depending on needs
Requirements:

-Willing to attend trainings to gain the experience needed for the job as needed
-Shift flexibility
-Availability during October 1st through January 31st is required.
