Position Summary

The Programs Manager supports and advances the artistic vision of Oasis Arts. This is a hands-on creative and operational role, responsible for helping to develop, produce, and execute a dynamic year-round slate of programming - from theatrical productions and residencies to community events and artist support initiatives.


The Programs Manager is a trusted collaborator and deputy to the Artistic Director, capable of leading projects independently, supporting artists through the production process, and representing Oasis Arts' artistic values internally and externally. This role is ideal for a creative practitioner who is as comfortable in a planning meeting as they are backstage.


Key Responsibilities

Artistic Programming & Production Support

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to develop and execute Oasis Arts’ annual programming slate across theater, nightlife, film, residencies, and community initiatives
  • Independently lead select productions and programs from concept through execution
  • Actively manage the development and execution of all programming under the Oasis Arts umbrella, including but not limited to the Visual Arts Fund, Film & Video Arts Incubator, Community Events Program, Legacy Artist Program, and additional programs as required.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for artists and producers during pre-production and production, ensuring projects are properly resourced, scheduled, and realized at a high standard
  • Oversee production logistics including scheduling, staffing, and vendor coordination as needed
  • Track and manage project budgets in alignment with organizational resources
  • Draft and manage artist agreements, production timelines, project budgets and key deliverables in partnership with relevant staff
  • Attend rehearsals, tech runs, and performances as needed to support quality and continuity

Artistic Vision & Community

  • Actively engage with San Francisco's queer arts and nightlife ecosystem to identify emerging artists, collaborators, and programming opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC artists, companies, and cultural organizations
  • Support artist development, mentorship, and community-building initiatives 
  • Contribute to the organization's public-facing artistic voice, including social media content, program notes, and artist communications

Leadership & Organizational Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and across departments (including booking, development, marketing, production, and front of house) to align programming with organizational capacity and goals
  • Participate in team meetings, strategic planning sessions, and organizational convenings
  • Contribute to grant applications and donor communications by articulating programming impact and artistic vision
  • Maintain awareness of audience engagement, ticket sales, and program sustainability in decision-making
  • Represent Oasis Arts with professionalism and discretion in public and partner-facing settings


Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in arts programming, producing, dramaturgy, or a related creative field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading the development and execution of live performance or multidisciplinary programming
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple productions simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of artists and collaborators
  • Deep commitment to LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and community-centered arts practice

Preferred

  • Familiarity with San Francisco's queer arts, nightlife, and cultural ecosystem
  • Experience working in a nonprofit arts organization
  • Background as a practicing artist, performer, or director
  • Comfort working nontraditional hours including evenings and weekends
