Guest Services & Hospitality
- Welcome every guest to the coat check area with warmth, professionalism, and a community-minded demeanor — treating each person as an individual and with genuine care
- Accept coats, bags, and personal belongings from guests, tagging each item with a numbered hanger ticket and issuing the corresponding claim stub to the guest
- Return belongings promptly and accurately to guests upon presentation of their claim ticket, verifying the match against the numbered tag on the hanger before releasing items
- Provide guests with accurate information about coat check fees, merchandise items, pricing, and venue policies in a friendly and helpful manner
- Anticipate guest needs during busy periods — particularly during high-volume arrivals and departures — managing flow efficiently and with a calm, positive demeanor
- Direct guests to key areas of the venue as needed, including restrooms, the bar, accessibility features, and show areas
- Demonstrate skill in handling guest complaints and minor disputes, using active listening, empathy, and good judgment to de-escalate and resolve situations while maintaining guest goodwill
Coat Check Security & Organization
- Maintain a meticulously organized coat check area at all times — arranging items in strict numerical order to enable fast, accurate retrieval during high-volume exit periods
- Ensure the secure storage of all checked items throughout each event, monitoring the coat check area and immediately reporting any suspicious activity, lost items, or security concerns to the manager on duty
- Document any lost, unclaimed, or damaged items accurately and report them to the Manager on Duty and Front of House Manager at the end of each shift using established procedures
- Ensure the coat check area is set up completely before doors open and fully broken down, cleaned, and secured at the end of each event
Merchandise Operations
- Manage the merchandise display area adjacent to coat check, maintaining a visually appealing, organized, and fully stocked presentation throughout each event
- Track merchandise inventory throughout each shift, noting items sold and flagging low stock to the Front of House Manager

- Assist with merchandise restocking, display updates, and inventory counts as directed by the Front of House Manager
Cash Management & Financial Accuracy
- Accurately collect coat check and merchandise fees and process all transactions - including cash, credit/debit, and any digital payment methods - in accordance with Oasis Arts' cash handling policies
- Receive and count an assigned cash drawer at the start of each shift, verifying the opening balance against documented records before doors open
- At the close of each event, complete end-of-shift cash reconciliation: count the cash drawer, balance all cash and digital totals against the transaction record, document any overages or shortages, and submit all funds and completed paperwork to the manager on duty
Team Communication & Event Operations
- Coordinate with the broader front-of-house team - including Front of House Manager, Manager on duty, box office, security, and ushers - regarding coat check volume, cash status, merchandise needs, any guest concerns, and to ensure smooth guest flow and a consistent guest experience throughout the venue
- Participate in pre-show briefings as directed, ensuring the coat check and merchandise area is fully prepared before doors open
- Support other front-of-house functions as directed by the Front of House Manager during lower-volume periods
