Position Summary

The Oakland Roots SC Sr. Manager, Brand Partnerships is responsible for creating compelling and unique concepts and building decks to present to prospective brand partners. The ideal candidate should have a winning mindset, is proactive, strategic, creative and  driven. In addition to being a revenue generator, the successful candidate will be highly collaborative, hard-working and an outstanding communicator. The individual will be known for their ability to think creatively, help solve critical problems, participate in sales teams and maintain momentum amidst challenges. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the flexibility and adaptability to be able to change direction quickly to meet the dynamic needs of the organization. When necessary, the successful candidate will be able to be an effective critical thinker and negotiator and comfortable in both negotiations and sophisticated business situations. Lastly, the successful candidate will demand of themselves and others the highest professional standards and personal and professional integrity.


  • In conjunction with the VP, Brand Partnerships, develop and implement strategic plans to retain, achieve and drive profitable, long-term partnerships and retention growth.
  • You’ll be a revenue driver by planning, developing, negotiating innovative and effective brand partnerships
  • Co-Lead execution of short and long-term sales business plans
  • Work collaboratively to achieve established revenue goals and budgets
  • Support department with scheduling calls and pitches with prospective and current partners
  • Develop creative and compelling proposals and presentations to prospective partners 
  • Participate in interactive pitch meetings
  • Utilize networking to develop existing and new local, regional, and national partnerships to further enhance alliances and strengthen relationships to maximize sales results and maintain/increase retention.
  • Maintain client conversations within our database and manage department revenue charts
  • Collaborate with others within the department and organization to effectively execute partners objectives.
  • Provide strategic insight on current and future partnership initiatives and opportunities.
  • Help the team leverage the strengths of existing partnership agreements and grow existing business.
  • Participate in regular meetings to maintain clear communication, performance expectations and department synergy.
  • Ensure full adoption of CRM sales activity tracking to support pipeline and prospect management along with weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Analyze and identify ways to increase efficiency, improve levels of service and enhance profitability in all areas of responsibility.
  • Retain and generate incremental revenue with existing partners through upsells and renewals.

Skills and Experience

  • You must be able to self-manage several small projects, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, as well as handle direction 
  • Knowledge of sales, sports, popular culture and brands is a must
  • Strongly prefer someone with a passion and deep understanding for sports and building purpose, community-driven partnerships
  • Creative self-starter with ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, results and deadline-driven environment
  • A highly organized individual who pays close attention to details
  • Proactive thinker, constantly seeking new opportunities and pursuing new revenue driving partnership opportunities
  • Exceptional at interpersonal skills including maintaining relationships, communicating effectively and problem solving
  • Strong client relations skills, leading with empathy and a collaborative, solution oriented spirit
  • 2-3 years of brand partnerships experience on the revenue side in sports or entertainment industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications with an emphasis in marketing preferred, or related field.


The approximate base pay range for this position is $72,000 to $85,000. Please note the pay range is an estimate for the position. Individuals will also be eligible for a bonus and sales commission. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
