The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will help us produce robust, clear and polished code using best practices to scale and expand our sports tech offering. Our ideal candidate likes to tinker, isn’t afraid to try new things and make mistakes but always learns from them. You have familiarity or love of one or more professional sports. This is a remote position. We get together for company retreats a few times a year. If candidate is based in Houston, TX, that would be a plus.

Description

Responsibilities

  • Design machine learning systems
  • Research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools
  • Develop machine learning applications according to requirements
  • Select appropriate datasets and data representation methods
  • Run machine learning tests and experiments
  • Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results
  • Train and retrain systems when necessary
  • Extend existing ML libraries and frameworks
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that are used for creation of models to predict sports outcomes for media and betting
  • Augment and maintain internal framework for full ML lifecycle - data transformation, model creation, prediction and regression
  • Perform accuracy and efficacy tests in order to evaluate and communicate the state of predictive results
  • Study, test and implement appropriate ML or statistical analysis for different types of data and predictions
  • Identify new solutions for speed and data optimizations in all areas of the ML lifecycle
  • Work with product owners to help identify ML opportunities for new and existing products
  • Utilize the best practices for coe development and lifecycle management
  • Participate in daily stand-ups at 9:00 am Central, Monday - Friday
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Be available for the occasional on-call duty


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years consistent experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, with strong ability to code in Python, including machine learning packages such as sklearn and pytorch required
  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture required
  • Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms required
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and popular "Active" gems required
  • Experience with React Native for some light front end work required
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. required
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to work in a team and work independently as needed required
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or similar field is required; Master’s degree is a plus
  • Exposure to REST APIs preferred desired
  • Exposure to cloud architecture preferred
  • Based in Houston, TX, a plus

Salary

$130,000 - $150,000 per year
