Position Summary

The Medical-Surgical RN provides comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients in medical and surgical settings. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring patient conditions, evaluating outcomes, administering medications and treatments, and coordinating care with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to medical and surgical patients.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, treatments, and other prescribed interventions.
  • Provide care for post-operative and medically complex patients as appropriate to the assigned unit.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Monitor vital signs, patient responses, and clinical outcomes and promptly communicate significant changes.
  • Assist with procedures and diagnostic or therapeutic interventions as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and medical records.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and discharge needs.
  • Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Follow infection prevention, quality assurance, and hospital safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain required clinical competencies.
  • Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or applicable Compact RN license.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program; ADN or BSN accepted.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Minimum 6 months of nursing experience; Med-Surg experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Ability to work day, night, weekend, or rotating schedules as required by the assigned facility.
