About the Opportunity

NurseAmerica is building a talent pool of qualified Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses (L&D RNs) for current and upcoming opportunities with healthcare facilities across Oklahoma.

We are seeking compassionate and clinically skilled Labor & Delivery nurses who are confident caring for expectant mothers and newborns and can remain calm, focused, and responsive in both routine and high-risk situations.

Position Summary

The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process. The RN performs maternal and fetal assessments, monitors patient conditions, administers medications and treatments, supports labor and delivery procedures, recognizes complications, and collaborates closely with physicians, midwives, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to labor and delivery patients.
• Perform comprehensive maternal assessments and continuously monitor patient condition.
• Monitor fetal heart rate and other fetal/maternal clinical indicators.
• Assess labor progression and communicate significant changes to the healthcare team.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to orders and facility protocols.
• Assist physicians and other providers during labor, delivery, and obstetric procedures.
• Provide care and support during vaginal and cesarean deliveries as appropriate.
• Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal complications and emergencies.
• Provide immediate postpartum care and monitor maternal recovery.
• Support newborn care and coordinate with appropriate neonatal staff when required.
• Educate and support patients and families throughout the labor and delivery process.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of maternal and fetal care.
• Collaborate with OB providers, anesthesia, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain required clinical competencies and participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities.
• Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or applicable Compact RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ADN, Diploma, or BSN accepted.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Current ACLS certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
• Current NRP certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
• 1+ year of Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
• Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills.
• Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Compensation & Schedule

• Full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities available
• Day and night shifts may be available
• 12-hour shifts are common
• Weekend and holiday rotation may apply
• Shift differentials may be available depending on the facility
• Compensation and schedule may vary based on facility, experience, specialty, and location
