About the Opportunity

NurseAmerica is seeking an experienced and compassionate Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time opportunity in Silver Spring, Maryland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with oncology and/or radiation oncology experience to provide specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment in a fast-paced outpatient clinical setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team while providing exceptional clinical care, patient education, and treatment support.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and monitor their clinical status throughout treatment.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and symptom management.
  • Administer medications and therapies as ordered by the physician.
  • Perform venipuncture and access and maintain implanted ports and central lines.
  • Review laboratory results and communicate relevant findings to providers.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
  • Manage treatment-related symptoms and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Triage patient phone calls and respond to medication refill requests.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, consultations, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Medical Assistants, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Follow all safety protocols related to oncology treatments, hazardous materials, and radiation oncology environments.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Active Maryland RN license.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of oncology experience preferred.
  • Previous Radiation Oncology experience is highly preferred.
  • Oncology certification such as OCN is a plus.
  • Experience in outpatient oncology, cancer care, infusion, or radiation oncology is preferred.
  • Strong patient assessment, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
