Advanced Practice Provider – Genetic Counseling & High-Risk Breast Program

Location: Beltsville, MD

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Compensation: $135,000 – $165,000 annually, based on experience

Credential: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)


About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established, multi-site outpatient oncology and hematology practice serving patients across Maryland, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join their Genetic Counseling and High-Risk Breast Program at their Beltsville, MD location. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cancer genetics and high-risk breast care, supporting patients through risk assessment, genetic testing, and personalized surveillance and prevention planning.

Candidates who have not yet completed genetics-focused training are welcome to apply — our client provides a structured pathway to complete this training within the first 24 months of hire.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for patients with personal or family history of breast and other hereditary cancers
  • Order, interpret, and counsel patients on genetic testing results in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Develop individualized surveillance, risk-reduction, and management plans for high-risk patients
  • Provide direct patient care including history and physical exams, treatment planning, and follow-up visits
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including medical oncologists, surgeons, and genetic counselors
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record


Qualifications

  • Active NP or PA license in the state of Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
  • Master's degree in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies
  • Prior oncology, hematology, or high-risk breast program experience strongly preferred
  • Genetics-focused training/certification a plus; willingness to complete within 24 months of hire required
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort delivering sensitive clinical information
