Nkeoma Luxury Salon is a full-service luxury salon in Somerset, NJ specializing in textured hair care and protective styling. We bring braiding and full salon services under one roof — offering clients a professional, consistent experience that most salons in this market cannot match. We employ braiders and stylists as W-2 team members with a guaranteed hourly base. You bring the skill and the professionalism. We bring the clients, the booking system, and the structure. We are looking for a New Jersey licensed braider who is skilled, client-focused, and ready to grow within a team environment. This role is a step above the unlicensed braider track — we expect broader service capability, greater consistency, and the ability to work independently with clients from day one.
Services You'll Provide
• Knotless box braids, traditional box braids, cornrows, feed-in braids, goddess/bohemian braids
• Two-strand twists, flat twists, Bantu knots, and other protective styles
• Locs installation (starter locs), retwisting, grooming, and loc maintenance
• Crochet style installation
• Basic scalp care and pre-style treatments (preferred)
What You'll Do
• Conduct thorough consultations before every service — assess the client's hair health and recommend accordingly
• Execute protective styles with precision, speed, and genuine care for the client's hair
• Manage your schedule and client flow professionally within Vagaro
• Follow salon checkout, communication, and quality standards consistently
• Build and retain a loyal client base within the salon's system
• Participate in team meetings and training; share knowledge with newer team members
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Active New Jersey braiding license in good standing
• Proficiency in at least 4 braiding and protective styles
• Strong client communication — you listen, consult, and educate
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Comfortable working within a team structure with shared standards
Preferred:
• 2+ years of professional braiding experience
• Experience with locs installation and maintenance
• An existing client base (helpful but not required — we provide the clientele)
• Familiarity with Vagaro or similar booking platforms
Starting pay
From $18.50/hr (W-2, based on experience)
