Responsibilities and Duties
As a procurement specialist, your main responsibility is to find goods and services for businesses at the best price to ensure their continued functionality. You will use your analytical skills to identify potential suppliers, screen them, and negotiate favorable payment terms. Once a supplier is selected, you will formalize the supply contract and monitor their performance to ensure contractual obligations are met. Your goal is to make the supply procurement process as cost-effective and efficient as possible.
In addition to finding suppliers, you will also be tasked with searching for ordered components, which can be a challenging and iterative process. You will need to inquire about multiple potential suppliers to find parts that meet specifications and fit within the budget. It is crucial to coordinate each purchase with the Technical Support Manager and closely monitor delivery schedules to ensure the entire batch is shipped according to plan.
As a procurement specialist, you will also need to negotiate contracts, policies, and deadlines with suppliers and vendors, monitor prices by product and vendor to predict financial fluctuations, and manage the flow of goods and supplies for optimum production. You will be responsible for preparing and processing purchase orders and requisitions, as well as maintaining documentation of all acquisitions. Additionally, you will write and analyze requisitions, invoices, supply requests, and supply orders, and track and monitor inventory to determine when new items need to be ordered or purchased.
Overall, your role as a procurement specialist is to ensure that businesses have the goods and services they need to operate efficiently and effectively, while also managing costs and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
