Longterm Substitute Position Details
Timeline: October 12, 2026 - March 26, 2027
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for the classroom during the lead teacher's extended absence
- Implement lesson plans and curriculum in accordance with program expectations and district guidelines
- Work collaboratively with a full-time assistant teacher to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom that supports the developmental needs of all children
- Utilize the HighScope curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices to engage preschool learners
- Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management systems to ensure consistency for students
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant information to administration and support staff
- Utilize positive guidance techniques to support social-emotional development
- Maintain accurate documentation and records as required by the center and district
- Communicate professionally with families, colleagues, and related service providers
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other required activities
- Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and district requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- New Jersey PreK–3 Certification
- Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow established curriculum plans and classroom procedures
- Ability to adapt quickly and maintain continuity of instruction
- Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and collaboration
- Proficiency with technology for documentation, communication, and instructional support
