Longterm Substitute Position Details

Timeline: October 12, 2026 - March 26, 2027

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm


Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the classroom during the lead teacher's extended absence
  • Implement lesson plans and curriculum in accordance with program expectations and district guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with a full-time assistant teacher to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom that supports the developmental needs of all children
  • Utilize the HighScope curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices to engage preschool learners
  • Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management systems to ensure consistency for students
  • Monitor student progress and communicate relevant information to administration and support staff
  • Utilize positive guidance techniques to support social-emotional development
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records as required by the center and district
  • Communicate professionally with families, colleagues, and related service providers
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other required activities
  • Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and district requirements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
  • New Jersey PreK–3 Certification
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow established curriculum plans and classroom procedures
  • Ability to adapt quickly and maintain continuity of instruction
  • Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and collaboration
  • Proficiency with technology for documentation, communication, and instructional support
