Newman Early Learning Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Teacher. As a Head Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping young minds and fostering a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. This position is expected to start in early 2025.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement curriculum: Develop and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the developmental needs of the children in your classroom.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment: Ensure the physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being of all children.
  • Promote social-emotional development: Foster a classroom culture of respect, cooperation, and self-regulation.
  • Communicate with families: Maintain open and effective communication with families regarding their child’s progress and classroom activities.
  • Mentor and Support Teachers: Provide guidance and training for lead and assistant teachers to enhance classroom instruction and foster professional growth.
  • Maintain classroom management: Implement positive behavior management strategies to ensure a productive and harmonious classroom.
  • Track developmental milestones: Observe and document each child’s growth, sharing updates with parents and adjusting lesson plans as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations: Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to maintain a safe and licensed educational environment.


Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
  • Master’s degree and one year of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of experience, depending on degree area
  • Teaching Certification from Department of Education
  • Head Teacher endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey
  • Six to nine credits of early childhood education or child development completed.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
