Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement HighScope curriculum: Develop and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the developmental needs of the children in your classroom.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment: Ensure the physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being of all children. Keep a clean and neat classroom environment and help throughout the school, as needed, with cleaning responsibilities.
  • Promote social-emotional development: Foster a classroom culture of respect, cooperation, and self-regulation.
  • Communicate with families: Maintain open, effective, and professional communication with families regarding their child’s progress and classroom activities.
  • Supervise and mentor: Provide guidance and leadership to assistant teachers, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Maintain classroom management: Implement positive behavior management strategies to ensure a productive and harmonious classroom.
  • Track developmental milestones: Observe and document each child’s growth, sharing updates with parents and adjusting lesson plans as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations: Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to maintain a safe and licensed educational environment.


Qualifications:

  • At least one year of lead teaching experience in an early childhood setting is required, plus at least ONE of the following: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (preferred); Six college credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and nine credits in Education, Psychology, Health Care, Nursing, or any other field related to child growth or development; Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Certified Child Care Professional (CCP) Certificate, Group Teacher endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey, or New Jersey Infant/Toddler Credential administered through Professional Impact New Jersey.

Also required: 

  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
