New North Carolina Project Social Media Content Creator Concord, NC · Remote · Part time

The New North Carolina Project is seeking a social media intern to create content for online and social media usage, as well as print for canvassing and community events. This is a part-time position with 20 hours of work expected per week.



Founded in 2021 by Dr. Aimy Steele, The New North Carolina Project (NNCP) is making politics represent the needs of North Carolinians by investing in communities of color, expanding the engaged electorate, and creating voters for life. NNCP is a 501c4 organization.

The NNCP Foundation (NNCPF) is a non-partisan 501c3 organization focused on voter registration in high opportunity, diverse communities throughout North Carolina. The Foundation seeks to provide voter education in communities of color, ensure data validity, and work with other non-partisan, 501c3 organizations to optimize civic engagement efforts.


The New North Carolina Project is seeking a Social Media Content Creator to create content for online and social media usage, as well as print for canvassing and community events. This is a part-time position with 20 hours of work expected per week.

It should be noted that this position will work closely with the Digital Director who works for both NNCP and NNCPF. This role may also work with the State Organizing Director and their team, who also works for both organizations. This position will work for both NNCP (501c4) and NNCP Foundation (501c3).


  • Create content for all of our social media channels - Instagram, Twitter, TikTok & Facebook 
  • Maintain a steady online presence on all social media channels- resharing content from partners and other like-minded organizations, engaging with followers in comments, and responding to messages on all channels
  • Help with design of field designs, merchandise, event collateral, email graphics, social media ads
  • Assist the Digital Director as needed with overall work
  • Communicate and collaborate with the team to come up with design strategies and campaigns


  • Formal education or self-led education of the fundamentals of design and social media
  • Experience with political, social justice and/or advocacy work in either a hired or volunteer role
  • Experience working with Google Workspace, Asana, Canva and Adobe programs
  • Familiarity with social media
  • Access to a computer and smartphone
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to deliver work on time and of a high quality
  • Understanding of layout, typography and have a keen eye for design
  • Strong written and verbal skills and communicates quickly


  • Attend monthly staff meetings and a weekly one-on-one meeting with the Digital Director
  • All work will be approved by the Digital Director before posting or distributing
