La Jolla Resort & Lodges is seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead our boutique waterfront resort in the heart of the beautiful Florida Keys.

As General Manager, you will oversee every aspect of the resort's operations—from guest satisfaction and team development to financial performance and property excellence. What You'll Do
As General Manager, you will provide strategic leadership while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the resort.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop team members across all departments while fostering a collaborative, service-driven culture.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide guidance, accountability, and support to department leaders and staff.
- Support the team during daily operations, assisting in all areas of the resort when needed.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate employees while ensuring compliance with company standards and safety procedures.
- Schedule and conduct regular team meetings and training sessions.
- Foster a positive workplace culture built on teamwork, accountability, communication, and employee engagement.
- Oversee scheduling, payroll, personnel documentation, and wage administration in accordance with company guidelines.
Guest Experience
- Ensure every guest receives exceptional service from arrival through departure.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, resolving issues to exceed expectations.
- Coordinate VIP arrivals, special requests, and group events while ensuring seamless communication between departments.
- Maintain the highest standards of hospitality that reflect the La Jolla Resort brand.
Operations & Property Management
- Direct all daily resort operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Grounds.
- Develop and maintain property-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and operational guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, amenities, and grounds to ensure exceptional cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, emergency procedures, and life safety requirements.
- Serve as the property's primary emergency contact, including after-hours operational support.
- Champion preventative maintenance programs and oversee the property's physical assets.
- Support renovation projects, branding initiatives, and property improvements while maintaining a long-term capital improvement plan.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage operating budgets while monitoring labor costs, expenses, and profitability.
- Approve expenditures and implement cost-control measures to achieve financial goals.
- Monitor occupancy, room rates, and market conditions while adjusting short- and long-term revenue strategies.
- Audit daily reports, reservations, online travel agency (OTA) performance, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure timely bank deposits, invoice processing, inventory controls, and sound accounting practices.
- Manage purchasing, inventory levels, and monthly inventory counts.
Communication & Performance
- Participate in company operational meetings, property reviews, and leadership calls while executing action plans.
- Build strong relationships with guests, vendors, community partners, and ownership.
- Analyze operational and financial performance, identifying opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the resort.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hotel or resort management experience, preferably as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior hospitality leader.
- Experience managing boutique hotels, resorts, or independent hospitality properties preferred.
- Proven leadership experience developing high-performing teams and delivering exceptional guest service.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor costs, revenue, and operational performance.
- Knowledge of revenue management, occupancy strategies, and online travel agencies (OTAs).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS), Microsoft Office, and hospitality technology platforms.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, housekeeping, maintenance, front office, and guest services.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Knowledge of the Florida Keys hospitality market is preferred but not required.
