NC Local is seeking an Assistant Editor to support our statewide newsroom by editing features and newsletter content. 

The assistant editor will work closely with reporters to offer substantive edits as well as copyedits in accordance with AP Style. The editor will edit and fact-check stories for clarity, accuracy, and narrative structure. We are especially interested in candidates who understand and appreciate the approach of reporting not only what happened but why it matters to local communities. 

The current need is approximately eight hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. The role is entirely remote and open to any applicants in North Carolina.
