Nautilus is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing electro-mechanical devices, components, tooling, and fixtures to support the advancement and testing of our next-generation textile-integrated systems.

The ideal candidate for this position has experience working both independently and as a member of a fast-moving, high-performing team.  


Nautilus is looking for a mechanical engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing electro-mechanical devices, components, tooling, and fixtures to support the advancement and testing of our next-generation textile-integrated systems.


Responsibilities:   

  • Create detailed design of mechanical, electro-mechanical systems, assemblies, and components by using SolidWorks and other modeling software tools as needed. 
  • Apply proven Engineering principles, theories, and concepts in the design and development process.  
  • Contribute to the development of new design concepts that are technically innovative and economically sound.  
  • Exercise leadership qualities and build consensus while developing solutions. 
  • Use hands-on approach to assemble, test, and analyze prototype units and mockups.  
  • Work with suppliers developing the most economical DFM/A solutions.  
  • Qualify potential suppliers for products and services that meet the design requirements. 
  • Prepare documentation drawings, BOMs, ECOs and Engineering Release packages.     
  • Lead and support transition of fully vetted project to production. 
  • Develop required fixtures, tooling, and aids to enable productive and ergonomic assembly process.  
  • Write and maintain manufacturing procedures. 
  • Provide and support manufacturing tasks and training.  
  • Champion resolution of ongoing prototyping and production issues.    
  • Support resolution of ongoing quality and supply chain issues.        

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS in Engineering or advanced STEM coursework and training. 
  • Experienced in the design of mechatronics with elements of micro-electronic elements, including skills to evaluate and characterize dynamic systems. 
  • Experienced in the use of 3D CAD tools.   
  • Basic experience in the use of FEA for stress and vibration.   
  • Excellent written skills. 
  • Ability to perform failure analysis, design experiments and tests to support FEA and failure analysis.   
  • Knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T (ANSI Y14.5). 
  • Possess communications skills needed to develop presentations and express advanced technical concepts to customers, management and members of development team. 
  • Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered.
