Summary:

Natura Resources is seeking a Project Manager to lead the successful execution of the MSR-1 reactor project, a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) energy system delivered with strategic EPC and manufacturing partners. This role is part of Natura’s embedded project execution team, located on-site with the project at Abilene Christian University (ACU).

 

The Project Manager is accountable for cost and schedule performance, regulatory coordination, and maintaining alignment between technical scope and contractor execution.


This position is designed for professionals with a strong background in capital project delivery, particularly in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. It emphasizes real-time decision-making, disciplined stewardship, and the ability to lead a cross-functional team in a high-visibility setting.

 

Description:

The Project Manager will oversee all phases of MSR-1 project execution, from early construction through commissioning. The role involves managing day-to-day integration between the owner team and EPC contractor, reviewing and authorizing changes, resolving technical-commercial conflicts, and maintaining control of budget and schedule performance.

 

The successful candidate will drive structured communication across engineering, finance, and regulatory functions and serve as Natura’s primary representative in the field. A strong foundation in contract execution, forecasting, and team leadership is essential.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Execution Oversight

  • Lead day-to-day project execution, coordinating directly with the EPC contractor and internal owner team.
  • Manage cross-functional alignment between cost, schedule, engineering, and compliance activities.
  • Chair regular project reviews and ensure timely resolution of execution issues.

 

Change Management and Contract Discipline

  • Oversee the evaluation and approval of change orders.
  • Confirm technical justification, contractual alignment, and budget impact.
  • Collaborate closely with project controls to track trends and adjust forecasts accordingly.

 

Schedule and Risk Stewardship

  • Maintain the integrated schedule and actively manage the project risk register.
  • Coordinate mitigation actions across disciplines to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Report progress and issues to Natura leadership with transparency and rigor.

 

Regulatory and Commercial Interface

  • Coordinate regulatory documentation and field execution activities to ensure alignment with project obligations.
  • Work closely with compliance and financial leads to ensure project documentation supports incentive eligibility and stakeholder requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing complex EPC projects in energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
  • Direct experience executing T&M or reimbursable contracts with contractor-facing leadership responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Strong track record of delivering projects on time and on budget in high-complexity environments
  • Excellent team leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering first-of-a-kind or high-complexity capital projects
  • Familiarity with regulatory and incentive documentation requirements
  • Leadership experience in projects with embedded owner teams or cross-functional controls
  • Graduate degree (MBA, MPM, MS) or PMP certification

Physical Demands

  • Frequent travel to field sites, stakeholder meetings, and supplier locations is expected.

  • Occasional lifting of technical materials (up to 40 lbs) may be required.
