Location: In-person at a private school in Georgetown, TX

Compensation: $1,000 to $1,250 per month, plus $30 to 50/hr for additional opportunities

About the Role

Civic Debate Academy is hiring an in-person Public Forum coach for a private school in Georgetown, TX. This coach will teach two classes a week on-site, Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:15 PM CT, and will prepare students to compete in Public Forum debate tournaments. CDA is also launching this same program at Alpha School's Austin campus, running twice-weekly, 90-minute in-person Public Forum classes for their Middle School team, so this coach may coordinate with the Austin program and its coaching staff as both locations grow together.

Class Coaches at Civic Debate Academy bring debate to life for students at every stage of their journey. Coaches lead weekly classes, provide written homework feedback, and complete student evaluations. Each class is capped at 10 students and runs for 10 or 14 week terms. We primarily coach Public Forum debate.

Additional work and compensation opportunities may include:

• Developing curriculum and lesson materials
• Supporting coach training and mentorship
• Substituting for other coaches when needed
• Attending tournaments

Requirements

• Able to teach in-person in Georgetown, TX on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:15 PM CT
• Coaching, teaching, or mentoring experience in an educational setting
• Experience with Public Forum debate
• Experience preparing students for Public Forum competition

Preferred (Not Required)

• Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as education
• Consistent weekend availability
• Comfort working with beginner students
• Competitive success in Public Forum Debate
