Description

ABOUT CIVIC DEBATE ACADEMY

CDA is the number one ranked debate program in the country. Headquartered in Chicago, we run online debate classes for elementary through high school students, a competitive travel team through our National Debate Club (NDC), and residential debate camps across the country. We've taught thousands of students how to think critically, problem-solve, and use their voice, and our members go on to schools like the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. During the 2025-2026 season, CDA teams reached finals or won at state tournaments in six states, coached six of the nation's top ten teams, and won as well as semifinaled the Tournament of Champions, part of a season that saw the program accumulate over 250 team awards.

We're also committed to making debate accessible to every family who wants it: CDA meets 100% of demonstrated financial need and has provided more than $90,000 in financial aid over the past 12 months.

THE ROLE

Your role will be to help students and families find the right program for them. Your job will primarily be inbound and strengthening retention term over term. You will be the first conversation most families have with CDA after their initial interest, whether that's a scheduled consultation or a follow-up after a free trial class. You'll also work with current class students who are ready to advance to the National Debate Club travel team or continue to the next term.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Respond promptly to inbound consultation bookings and trial-class leads, keeping response time short while interest is high.
  • Run consultation calls that walk parents through class levels, pricing, and financial aid, and recommend the right next step for their student.
  • Own your pipeline end to end in our CRM, from first inquiry through completed enrollment, so no lead goes unanswered.
  • Report weekly on call volume, conversion rate, and pipeline health, and flag what's working and what isn't.
  • Represent CDA's voice on every call: warm, direct, and honest about what debate can do for a kid.
  • Advise and implement nurture campaigns and call follow-ups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven ability to manage client lists and produce strong sales outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort speaking directly with parents about their child.
  • Strong organizational skills and the self-discipline to manage a high-volume inbound pipeline without close supervision.
  • Availability that overlaps with when families are free to talk, including consistent evening and weekend availability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in competitive debate, as a competitor or coach (NSDA, TOC, or equivalent circuit experience).
  • Experience selling into education, camps, tutoring, or another youth- or family-facing service.
  • Familiarity with CRM and scheduling tools such as Pipedrive and Calendly.
  • Multilingual, particularly Mandarin, Korean, Hindi, Gujarati, or Tamil.

COMPENSATION

On-target earnings for a full-time advisor working our current inbound volume run roughly $60,000 to $80,000 in year one, with no ceiling for a strong performer.

Salary

$40,000 - $90,000 per year
