Your New Role ….
We are seeking a professional and experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our logistics team. As a vital part of a time-sensitive and high-security delivery operation, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation of critical freight across regional and national routes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, on-time performance, and exceptional customer service. In this role, you’ll pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations via tractor-trailer combinations.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities ….
· Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles.
· Operate and maintain a Class A commercial vehicle (tractor-trailer) in accordance with FMCSA, DOT, and company policies and regulations.
· Perform daily pre-trip, post-trip and safety inspections and report any issues immediately.
· Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
· Transport high-value, time-sensitive, and/or temperature-controlled freight safely and securely across designated routes.
· Ensure on-time pick-up and delivery of cargo as scheduled, maintaining strong communication with dispatch and operations team.
· Maintain all required logs and electronic documentation using ELD systems per company and federal standards.
· Interact professionally with clients, staff, and delivery recipients, upholding our NCE’s and our client’s standards of excellence.
· Load and unload freight as required.
· Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
· Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
· Follow all safety procedures including cargo securement, hazmat handling (if certified), and emergency protocols.
· Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch (e.g. delays, arrivals, equipment problems), as required.
· May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
· Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications ….
· Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) with double/tripe, hazardous materials and tank endorsements.
o The hazardous materials endorsement must be obtained prior to contract signing.
· Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
· Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
o Clean driving record with no citation or conviction of more than 2 moving violations during a 36-month (3 year) period prior to application
o Clean driving record with no citation or conviction of more than 5 moving violations during a 60-month (5 year) period prior to application
o No more than 1 preventable accident, or more than 1 preventable accident and 1 moving violation in any combination. (3 year / 36-month period prior to application date)
o Cannot have a seatbelt violation in the 12 months prior to application date – “failing to properly wear a seatbelt in a CMV, whether as a driver or as a passenger” (1-year DQ)
o Cannot have a cell phone violation within the 12 months prior to application date – “using a hand-held mobile telephone or texting while driving a CMV” (1-year DQ)
o Show NO record of DUI/DWI within the past 5 years
· Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations.
· Must pass a background check, DOT drug screening, and DOT physical.
· Have a current DOT medical card (with expiration prior to 30 days)
o MedCard must be certified to the MVR (non-excepted intrastate) and it must be performed by a doctor on the registry.
· Long combination vehicles (LCV) (i.e. Triple Trailers, Rocky Mountain Doubles, and Turnpike Doubles) are operated in the states of AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD and UT. LCV Drivers in these states must meet the Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards.
· Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.).
· Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of about 100 pounds, several times a day or more.
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
· Ability to follow instructions and complete the required training.
· Ability to work in a team driver setting.
· Demonstrates initiative and motivation.
Preferred Qualifications ….
· Experience with high-security freight or hazmat shipments.
· Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELD) and dispatch platforms.
· Prior experience operating in expedited or time-critical logistics environments.
· TSA clearance or TWIC card is a plus.
Working Conditions ….
· Over-the-road (OTR) travel – may include extended periods away from home.
· Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and holidays based on customer demand.
· Freight will require specialized handling, including temperature-controlled units or secure transport.
· Must be able to sit for extended periods, climb in/out of cab and trailers, lift up to 50 Ibs if needed.
· Exposure to noise and vibration.
· Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations.
· Hours may vary due to operational need.
· Overnight stays may be required for some schedules.
