SureStart is an NYC-based AI and frontier-technology education company founded in 2020 by AI researcher, Dr. Taniya Mishra. This summer SureStart, in partnership with CAL MSCS, is hosting a one week virtual Vibe Coding course for California based high school students. The program will take place from Monday, July 13th through Friday, July 17th (9am PST to 3pm PST daily).

This program introduces students to Vibe Coding, a modern approach to software development that leverages AI assistance for rapid, collaborative creation of social impact solutions. Students will experience the complete product development lifecycle from ideation to production launch while addressing real-world problems through the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework.

The course emphasizes speed, iteration, and creative flow while maintaining high standards for user research, technical implementation, and professional presentation. Students will learn how to use Replit and other cutting-edge tools to build meaningful solutions, conduct effective user research, implement production-ready features, and present their work to industry professionals.

By course completion, students will have deployed a live application that addresses a specific UN SDG challenge and gained practical experience in the entrepreneurial process of bringing social impact software products to market.

We would love to have YOU as a mentor to help these high school students learn vibe coding skills while you also get the chance to be trained in vibe coding --- all while getting paid for your efforts!

Your responsibilities will be to:

• Train, support and encourage a group of 6 students as they develop vibe coding skills and AI intuitions using the provided curriculum.
• Interact with your group of trainees through daily sessions.
• Help them use those skills to build a final project, which they will present on the last day of the program.
• Keep your group accountable for finishing their daily tasks.
• Help unblock them when they are stuck by pointing them to resources, showing them how to debug code and/or giving them helpful hints to discover the answer on their own.

The curricula for the program will be provided and you will be trained in the vibe coding curriculum and in being an effective mentor.

Requirements for applicants

• Currently enrolled or recent graduates from Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields;
• Passionate about teaching and mentoring younger students; especially invested in mentoring students from underserved backgrounds in science and technology;
• Or have current/recent experience with high-school school STEM teaching;
• Excellent communication, time-management and teamwork skills.
• Able to commit to 6 hours per day from July 13-17th, 2026
• You must be available to lead live sessions during the window of 9am — 3pm PST Mon-Friday.
