Pay: $19.00 - $80.00 per hour + tips


Position Summary

Mystic Experience Co. is seeking confident, engaging, and responsible individuals to join our team as Storytellers / Cast Members for the Mystic Moonlight Social Tour.


In this role, you will guide guests through Mystic’s evening and nightlife scene, delivering a fun, social, and well-organized experience. You will serve as both a host and group leader, creating an enjoyable atmosphere while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and guest safety.


This position is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in hospitality, events, nightlife, theater, or group facilitation who are comfortable leading groups in lively, fast-paced environments.

This is a part-time, seasonal, hourly (non-exempt) position. Work is scheduled on a per-tour basis, depending on business needs and availability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tour Leadership & Guest Experience

  • Lead evening walking tours in an engaging, organized, and professional manner
  • Set a positive, inclusive, and energetic tone for the group
  • Deliver light storytelling and local insight related to Mystic’s nightlife and culture
  • Create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all participants


Group Management & Safety

  • Maintain awareness of group dynamics in a social and high-energy environment
  • Promote responsible participation and reinforce tour expectations when needed
  • Support guest well-being by recognizing and responding appropriately to changing conditions
  • Guide group movement safely through public spaces and between venues
  • Exercise sound judgment and professionalism in all situations


Host & Coordination Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for guests throughout the tour
  • Coordinate timing and flow between venues and stops
  • Communicate clearly with guests and partner locations
  • Address questions, concerns, or issues in a calm and respectful manner


Operations

  • Start and end tours on schedule while maintaining a smooth overall experience
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding incidents, feedback, or operational needs
  • Represent Mystic Experience Co. in a professional and responsible manner at all times


Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident presence with the ability to lead and direct groups
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed in fast-paced or high-energy environments
  • Sound judgment and situational awareness
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hospitality, nightlife, event coordination, security, or group leadership
  • Background in theater, acting, or public-facing roles
  • Experience managing group dynamics or customer interactions in social environments
  • Familiarity with Mystic, Connecticut or willingness to learn local venues and layout


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (approximately 0.5–1 mile per tour)
  • Ability to work in evening and nighttime conditions
  • Ability to navigate public spaces and venues safely
  • Ability to project voice clearly in active environments


Work Schedule

  • Part-time, seasonal role with hours based on scheduled tours and business demand
  • Evening and weekend availability required
  • No guarantee of minimum hours; schedules vary based on bookings


Compensation


This is a non-exempt, hourly position paid in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Connecticut wage and hour laws

Base pay will never fall below applicable minimum wage requirements

  • Tiered hourly pay structure based on tour group size:4–5 guests: $19.00 per hour (base rate)
  • 6–10 guests: $40.00 per hour
  • 11+ guests: $80.00 per hour


Employees are paid for all hours worked, including pre- and post-tour responsibilities as applicable


Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable federal and state laws

Tips are encouraged and often received, with typical earnings averaging approximately $15–$20 per guest, but are not guaranteed and are not used to offset base hourly wages


Employment Classification & Conditions

  • This is an at-will employment position, meaning employment may be terminated by either the employee or employer at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable law
  • Employees will be scheduled and directed by Mystic Experience Co.; this is not an independent contractor role
  • All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
