It is our mission to be the pillar of childcare in Schuyler County by providing children and families with quality care and educational experiences. A strong work force requires adequate child care opportunities in the community. We use a sliding fee tuition scale and accept child care subsidy so that all children have the same opportunity to quality care regardless of the family's financial status. We provide year round care to children ages 6 weeks through 12 years of age. We believe children learn best through play. Our teaching team assures children have a wide variety of activities to keep them engaged and discover more about themselves. Job description:

Position: Infant Teacher Aide

We are seeking 1 individual to add to our growing team.

Hours

8:00 am to 4/4:30 pm (dependent on ratio needs)

Monday thru Friday

Position Summary:

Every position at My Place: A Play and Learning Center plays a critical role in the lives of the children we care for at the center. We serve children 6 weeks through age 5 from 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Duties and class sizes vary depending on age group. The main focus of all staff is to engage children in fun and playful activities throughout the day to help them develop new skills as they grow. All staff will be provided with continuous training to provide the best supervision skills and better understand child development. Minimally 15 hours of paid training per year is provided and scholarship opportunities are available to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Education: This is an entry level position and no formal education is required to begin but ALL staff must have a passion for caring for children and learning more about their developmental needs. All staff have a professional development plan which may or may not include college credits. There are many scholarships opportunities available for individuals working at least 20 hours per week in a licensed childcare facility. We are happy to connect you.

Qualifications:

• Must enjoy learning through play!
• Nurturing individual with a desire to care for children
• Experience in working with diverse populations
• Excellent customer service skills
• A minimum of one year of specific training and/or experience caring for children
• · Core knowledge of NYS child day care regulations

· Must meet the requirements of Child Care Regulations 418.14 and related employment guidelines

· Must be a reliable team player, detail oriented, energetic and ready to play

· Able to sit or stand for long periods of time, and up to lift 30 lbs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Create a safe and nurturing environment for all children
• Provide competent supervision of children
• Follow My Place board-approved policies at all times
• Create a welcoming child-centered culture at center
• Follow NYS child day care regulations at all times

Communications/Community Relations:

· Communicate with parents

· Maintain confidentiality according to My Place policy

· Present a positive image of My Place

· Answer the phone/door and support a positive customer service experience

Professional Development:

• Annually create individual professional development plans
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities per individual professional development plan and according to job specifications/program needs.

· Complete and remain current with NYS required training

· Attend all required meetings
