The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Southwest Florida, Inc. dba Centers for Multiple Sclerosis, is an independent local nonprofit serving people who have multiple sclerosis in Southwest Florida. The organization distinguishes itself by striving to reduce isolation, improve mobility, and improve the outcomes of daily challenges of those affected by multiple sclerosis. It is not a chapter of any national organization. For over 25 years, clients of the Centers for MS benefit from social interaction and wellness programs, including case management, MS-focused exercise classes, art therapy, mental health support and coaching, disability equipment, educational activities, and connection to resources. All services are free.

Job description:

Licensed Mental Health Counselor needed for per diem individual counseling via telehealth and for on call onsite support group facilitation in Southwest Florida. Must be local: Lee County or Collier County Florida. Experience working with people facing issues related to chronic disease or working with seniors preferred. This is not a behavioral health position. Independent contractor status allows you to set your own appointments except for the pre-scheduled once monthly in-person support group.

Minimum requirements include:

• LMHC or LCSW required. Will consider MSW with extensive experience.
• 2 years experience working with patients suffering from a chronic illness or the senior population
• Skilled in teaching coping skills for chronic illness
• Active listening, conflict resolution techniques
• Ability to exercise leadership and guidance to adhere to established protocols
• Excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy
• Must be fluent in English
• Background check will be required
